Need help choosing the right news website CMS India platform?

Separate one-time and recurring costs

List setup, configuration, design, migration, training, and launch work separately from monthly or annual software, hosting, support, and infrastructure fees. Ask what changes when the publication adds an edition, integration, or new content type.

Include any charges tied to traffic, storage, media delivery, user seats, or support level. Do not assume that a quoted platform price includes every service needed to publish reliably.

Include the newsroom’s internal effort

Estimate staff time for content cleanup, URL mapping, testing, training, taxonomy decisions, and ongoing administration. A lower subscription cost may require more publisher or engineering work to configure and maintain the system.

Consider the opportunity cost of fragmented tools and manual handoffs, but use evidence from your own operation rather than a generic savings claim. Record which tasks the CMS will actually remove or simplify.

Budget for integrations and future changes

Identify the connections needed for analytics, newsletters, apps, ePaper, advertising, payments, search, and identity. Clarify implementation fees, ongoing support, provider dependencies, and what happens if an API or service changes.

Plan for security updates, accessibility improvements, archive growth, additional languages, and redesigns. A CMS is an operating platform that changes with the publication, not just a launch expense.

Compare proposals on the same scope

Give each provider the same list of workflows, content volume, languages, integrations, uptime expectations, support hours, backup duties, and migration requirements. Compare exclusions and assumptions alongside the quoted price.

Ask for a written total-cost view over a period that fits your decision. Keep data export, transition assistance, and exit costs visible so the publisher can compare ownership and long-term flexibility.
