Need help choosing the right news website CMS India platform?

Build an inventory before making decisions

Export URLs, titles, dates, sections, authors, index status, traffic, links, and known legal or editorial flags. Combine analytics and Search Console data with newsroom knowledge so low recent traffic does not automatically mean a page lacks value.

Classify content by purpose: timely reporting, evergreen guide, archive record, campaign page, duplicate, or error. Record uncertainty and assign an owner before recommending a change.

Choose an action that fits the page

Keep accurate reporting that remains useful. Refresh a reference guide when facts have changed and an editor can verify them. Consolidate overlapping explainers only when the combined page genuinely serves the reader better.

For obsolete or incorrect material, decide whether to correct, annotate, restrict, retire, or redirect based on editorial policy and legal obligations. Avoid mass deletion or redirecting unrelated pages to the homepage.

Track the effects of the audit

Record original URLs and destinations before changes, update internal links, and check canonical tags and sitemaps. Review redirects, 404s, index coverage, and important traffic patterns after release.

Set a sustainable review cadence for major content hubs. A smaller audit with careful decisions and named owners is safer and more actionable than a spreadsheet that no team can maintain.
