Need help choosing the right news website CMS India platform?
Which page types should publishers define?
Start with recurring jobs: standard article, live update, explainer, photo story, video story, section front, topic page, author page, and campaign landing page. Each template should make its purpose clear to editors and readers.
Avoid creating a unique page design for every story. Use flexible patterns when an article needs a special visual treatment, and retain a consistent foundation for navigation, bylines, dates, and related coverage.
How should components work for editors?
Define approved components such as image galleries, pull quotes, explainers, lists, callouts, and embeds. Explain which roles can add them, what content each requires, and how the component behaves on small screens.
A visual CMS should not force editors to understand code to produce a clean page. At the same time, guardrails should prevent a component from being used in a misleading or inaccessible way.
How can a design system support consistency?
Set shared rules for headings, spacing, color, typography, image ratios, captions, buttons, and focus states. Keep brand and accessibility decisions in reusable styles so editors do not need to reproduce them on each page.
Give a design-system owner responsibility for changes and documentation. When a component is updated, review representative article, section, mobile, and archive pages before applying the new pattern everywhere.
How should publishers test page templates?
Preview templates with short and long headlines, multiple bylines, translated text, missing images, long captions, and different article formats. Check keyboard navigation, screen-reader headings, mobile layout, image loading, and search metadata.
Ask editors to build a real story using the template before launch. A design that looks polished in a mockup may still slow down publishing if the content fields or approval steps are unclear.
