Need help choosing the right news website CMS India platform?

Choose a pattern that can survive edits

A news URL should be understandable, unique, and stable. Decide whether articles use a short slug, date prefix, section path, or identifier, then document how headline edits affect the address.

Avoid placing temporary labels or a long chain of categories in the URL if those values may change. The CMS should prevent collisions and keep the canonical address consistent when an editor revises a headline.

Set rules for articles, sections, and editions

Define how language editions, regional sites, live coverage, and archive pages are represented. Each page should resolve to one preferred canonical URL, and internal links should point directly to it.

Treat filters and search parameters carefully. Decide which combinations deserve stable, indexable landing pages and which are only navigation state. Avoid exposing unlimited URL variants that provide the same content.

Manage URL changes with an inventory

Before a redesign or CMS migration, export existing URLs and map each important address to its destination. Use a direct permanent redirect when a page moves, update internal links, and preserve useful archive paths where possible.

After launch, check server responses, redirect chains, canonical tags, sitemap entries, and Search Console reports. A URL policy is part of editorial and technical governance; review it whenever the publication adds a new format or edition.
