Need help choosing the right news website CMS India platform?

Who owns each content type?

Name an editorial owner for stories, explainers, topic pages, author bios, corrections, sponsored content, and service pages. Define who may draft, review, approve, publish, and retire each type.

Make the owner visible in team documentation and the CMS process. When a role changes, assign the work to someone else instead of leaving pages without a responsible editor.

Which publishing rules should be written down?

Document byline conventions, source notes, labels, dates, update wording, image credits, canonical URLs, taxonomy terms, and correction handling. Include what a reviewer checks and which decisions require a second approval.

Keep policies practical. A short rule that editors can apply during a real shift is more useful than a long document that is disconnected from the publishing workflow.

How should governance extend to the archive?

Set a review schedule for evergreen explainers, public service pages, author information, and topic collections. Define when old articles remain as historical reporting, need an update note, or should be consolidated or retired.

Preserve redirects and contextual links when pages change. Keep a record of significant edits and the editor responsible for the decision, especially where the public page’s meaning or status changes.

How can a CMS support the policy?

Use fields, roles, templates, and status labels to make required steps easy to follow. Avoid permissions that allow routine publishing staff to make high-impact structural changes without the appropriate review.

Review governance with editors and administrators after launch. If the process depends on off-system spreadsheets or private messages, identify which decisions belong in the CMS and which require a separate controlled record.
